Llama hiking for life

From the moment we spied the llama trailer waiting in the parking lot for us, my 14-year-old son, Jake, was nonstop smiles (not an easy feat for a teenage boy on the autistic spectrum). The llamas were pure joy to be around and it’s such a fun and unique experience to guide these large bundles of fluffiness along the beautiful riverside trail of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The trek followed an easy terrain; ideal for our first llama trek. Jeff and Denise led us to a beautiful glade next to the river for our overnight camp site and they went above and beyond in helping us set up our tents and preparing all our meals. They’re both kind souls and instantly felt like family. Having the extended time to interact and feed the llamas was such a treat for Jake too. Jake rates our llama excursion as the highlight of his year and already begging to sign up again. We can’t thank Jeff and Denise enough for our amazing time and invitation back to the farm to see the rest of the llama family and meet their new cria. — Elizabeth

Lasting impressions

Larry and the kids came home once again having loved their time in the outdoors with you. The trails you took, the llamas, the company, and — of course — the food all left special memories. Elisabeth was recently asked in an interview what her best memory was of scouting so far and she immediately said the backpacking with llamas.

Thank you both for making lasting impressions with our kids and family!

Amazing trip!

I wanted to send a huge thank you for the amazing trip!!! The kids have all raved about it! The food was amazing (as stated by multiple people as their favorite part of the trip), they loved the llamas, and the hiking/backpacking and overall fun!!! You were tremendous hosts and we just can’t say enough good things about the trip. I hear our kids forgot their meds so hopefully they didn’t drive you too crazy and that you will consider doing another one with us. We would love to do again at your convenience if ya’ll are game.

Thanks so much!

Great Lifetime Experience

Thank you so much for the lifetime memory for my son and I. The trip was memorable for so many reasons.  Llamas are beautiful animals who are incredible in the wilderness. They carry so much and are such hardy animals. That they carry an impressive load means great meals along the way and less on our backs so we can enjoy the hikes.

Fresh bread, pies, that morning coffee, excellent meals, clean water, comfortable tents and adventures galore. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience to share with my son. It is a lifetime experience we will remember for the rest of our lives.

My son also learned lessons about preparing, discipline, foresight, planning and how all that pays off when you are deep in the woods, enjoying the benefits of those wonderful animals who carried a load for us all. Jeff, your skills as a guide and humane caretaker of those awesome llamas made the trip all positive with no negatives at all.

All I can say is “thank you” for the lifetime memory. It was an honor and a privilege getting to know you.

Message to Zoey the Llama

Hi Jeff!  I had such a wonderful time and I’m even back to hiking!  And one last favor: would you please get the following message to Zoey Llama? (I don’t have her email.)

Dear Zoey,

You are the best llama I’ve ever met and you are also the best llama ever!

You are kind.  You are affectionate but not kissy-face which can be irritating.  I approve of and like the crowd you run with:  Jeff, in particular, is amazing.  He can do everything, cook and lead groups and even enable me to do more than I ever could before.  And Denise!  how helpful and kind!  And of course Pat and Ellen and Rosalie are delightful.

I’m sending my love to you Zoey and will think of you often!

Llama adventure

I find that the great things in this world are not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving. Life to me is an adventurous journey — I never know what may be my next destination.

Thank you for the Llama adventure you offered, I found great joy in the journey.

Happy trails to you, until we meet again.

— Rosalie
